Microsoft Warns of IE Security Vulnerability « 567 Technology
Microsoft releases an advisory about a new vulnerability affecting Internet Explorer that could allow an attacker to access files on a PC if the user is running Windows XP or using IE with Protected Mode disabled. … The affected versions are Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 4 (SP 4) on Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; IE 6 SP 1 on Windows 2000 SP 4; and IE 6, 7 and 8 on supported versions of Windows XP SP 2, Windows XP SP 3 and Windows Server 2003 SP 2.
